Today’s guest post is awesome and very, very relatable for me. As an expat, these are all very true things that happen when you live abroad! Take it away, Isabel!
// At the beginning, you will not be able to pronounce correctly where you want to go or any basic need really.
// You will wonder why people always have a better weather appropriate outfit than you, they somehow manage to always appear more dry and stylish than you.
// You will get super excited every time you see something remotely similar from the food back home. ARE THOSE TACOS YOU SAY?!?!
// Also when you hear somebody speaking in your language or accent.
// You will say YES to every invitation you get because that it’s like the best chance you can get to actually make some friends.
// Now your family and friends from back home will start making fun of your current accent, because you have no idea how to properly speak anymore.
// Additionally, you are basically now creating your own language by mixing the new adoptive language or accent with yours, making it even harder for you to communicate properly.
// You forget about the time difference so you end up waking your friends and family at weird times, oops.
// The most unexpected thing will make you so nostalgic. Ohmygod, those are exactly the same table cloths my mom has back at home.
// But most importantly, you will have the best time of your life. You will be able to become a better version of yourself and you will feel unstoppable. Like good Kevin G used to say…
