It’s no secret that I love to travel and traveling is one of my favorite parts of living abroad. However, I am a 23 year old teacher, and let’s be real, money doesn’t grow on trees. This past year, I have been able to travel quite frequently, despite living on a teacher budget. Want to know my secret?
Using my Capital One venture card.
You guys, I can’t even tell you how much of a game changer using this card has been. My friend Nate recommended it to me and they had a sign up bonus where if you spent a certain amount of money (I believe it was $3,000), you get a 40,000 mile bonus (which is $400 worth of travel!) I used this when getting my new laptop, and it was a good way to get easy miles.

The reason I love this card is because you get double miles on any purchase whether that be in a Starbucks or an Apple store. This card is also awesome because there are NO foreign transaction fees! You can redeem your points on anything from flights to Uber rides (and I have done both myself). I also love the app– it’s highly functional, and easy to use.
Figuring out the points and miles game can be confusing, but with this card it’s so easy– you just use their “Purchase Eraser”, and boom, the money is credited back into your account the next day. Next month, I’ll be traveling to the Maldives, and my flight was COMPLETELY paid for with this awesome card!
