OK, well if you read my blog then it’s not a confession at all. But, I’m an online dater.
There’s a huge HUGE stigma with online dating… some of it warranted and some of it not. I know MANY people in my real life who have met their significant other online. As my therapist says It’s totally normal in todays busy society to meet people inorganically now! But kittens, you gotta be smart… always meet in a public place, skype before hand… you know.
Today I just want to show you how to not be that guy online (specifically Tinder and OK Cupid). Since like 2 guys read my blog, mostly this is just for your womanly amusement. You’re welcome. Hashtag please tell your guy friends to not be that person.
PS- I hope you like the super cute picture of myself below, snapped before a first date with a guy I met online. Yup, he ended up being the guy that insulted me earlier this week. Winner winner chicken dinner.
One: The Picture
Especially if you’re using good old Tinder, please, please choose a decent picture of yourself. Let’s dissect why some of these pictures might not be the best choices ever made.
1. Why are you wearing a hat and no shirt?
2. I’m not into the mirror pic life, but maybe that’s personal preference?
I’m sure you’re a nice person but this picture scares me.
I get that it might be your Halloween costume, but this is Tinder, not your personal scrapbook. Classy, Bun Maker.
I just don’t trust this picture.
Two: The Message
A great message to say would be something like “hi, I saw your profile and it looks like we have x in common, blah blah blah.” DO NOT say something sexual. DO NOT be creepy. JUST DON’T DO IT. Resist the urge!!
Okay, I’m glad you actually wrote something. Thanks for the compliment, but let’s read this again. You asked me to talk three different times, HI I GET IT. Just too weird for me.
Three: The Follow Up
I don’t very much proof of this… because clearly I don’t have much luck with it lol. But one piece of advice: don’t be up in your girls grill. I drunkenly exchanged numbers with a guy from the Tind and he wouldn’t leave me alone. Literally.
But you never know, you might meet a great guy and go on a wonderful date! 😉
