(Or alternate title: females I want to buy a cocktail. Because let’s be honest, that’s always better than dinner)
Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City
It’s no secret that I genuinely love Carrie Bradshaw. I got addicted to watching Sex and the City when I was a junior in High School (probably a bit too young, but whatever) and have seen every episode at LEAST four times. I love Carrie Bradshaw because she’s real, hilarious, and knows that a cosmo and your girls can fix everything. I’ve learned a lot from Carrie.
My favorite quote from Carrie: “Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.”
Jess Day from New Girl
If you don’t watch New Girl, you’re totally missing out. This show is awesome and hilarious and weirdly is oddly comforting to me to see someone else who believes in daily dance parties and loves matching pajama sets as much as I do. Sometimes I think she’s actually my spirit animal.
My favorite quote from Jess: “I feel like I’m gonna murder someone, and also I want soft pretzels”
Kimmy Schmidt from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a recent find for me… if you haven’t seen it you can totally binge watch it in one weekend on the good old ‘Flix. Kimmy Schmidt is absolutely hilarious and sometimes you just have to cringe at how silly she is.
Favorite quote from Kimmy: “Are you into Molly?” – Girl at the bar “Am I?! She’s my favorite American Girl!” – Kimmy (come on, you have to admit it’s funny)
Hermione Granger from Harry Potter
Did you really think I wouldn’t put Harry Potter in here? Let’s be real! Hermione is awesome because she owns her brains and I really just want to pick her brain about all things HP. Can you blame me? 😉
My favorite quote from Hermione: “Well, obviously, she’s feeling very sad, because of Cedric dying. Then i expect she’s feeling confused because she liked Cedric and now she likes Harry, and she can’t work out who she likes best. Then she’ll be feeling guilty, thinking it’s an insult to Cedric’s memory to be kissing Harry at all, and she’ll be worrying about what everyone else might say about her if she starts going out with Harry . And she probably can’t work out what her feelings towards Harry are anyway, because he was the one who was with Cedric when Cedric died, so that’s all very mixed up and painful. Oh, and she’s afraid she’s going to be thrown off the Ravenclaw Quidditch team because she’s flying so badly.”
Nancy Drew from the Nancy Drew series
Growing up, I loved to read Nancy Drew. Two of the girls that I tutor both love mysteries, so I was really excited to have them start reading Nancy Drew with me. I love that Nancy is a positive role model for them to look up to and she is basically a badass. I will admit, I still enjoy playing the computer games.
