Short story: I graduated and have a full time job. Both happened one day after the other.
Long story: About a month ago, I was mindlessly attending a job fair (which is anything but mindless, but I digress). There was a little booth with a cool display labeled “Teach in China” and I decided to talk to them. It seemed like a cool gig; you teach at an international school for 10 months in the content area you have your license in, and get to experience a new culture, way of life and TRAVEL.
So I applied and interviewed there right on the spot. I had a good feeling, but China.. is this REALLY what I wanted to do? So I continued to apply other places and went on my merry way.
I filled out the online application and was shocked and excited that I got into the program. And even more shocked when I got a call to interview with my number one school pick in China. A very competitive international school.
Two interviews, lots of prayers, emails and basically keeping this a secret, I got in. I got offered my dream job, to teach Middle School English and History.
And last night, I decided to take it.
So friends, the moral of my little story is this: trust in Him that he will provide (I prayed so much about this whole deal). For the first time in my ENTIRE LIFE, I have made a decision without consulting all of my friends. Although I’m sure some felt a little betrayed because I didn’t ask for their advice, I can truly say with my whole heart that this decision is mine and mine alone. Which is pretty freaking cool.
I’m going to China. I’m going to travel, to see the world… I’m going to go outside of my comfort zone… I’m scared and terrified but excited and grateful and my little heart is bursting at the seams.
