Goals, resolutions… basically the same thing, right? I love making goals (that’s no surprise to blog readers… I make them every month and have a list of things I want to do when I’m 23! As I’ve mentioned before, 2015 was successful, and I owe a lot of that to being intentional and diligent with goal setting.
Here are my main goals for this year. Each month, I plan on breaking them into small goals and sharing them in my recap/update posts each month. Even though they may not be the most interesting thing to read, I enjoy writing them because they’re fun to look back on! I probably won’t make monthly goals for January and February because… I’ll be traveling for most of them! The best part of teaching in Asia, I swear. I’ll be heading to the Maldives and Sri Lanka (for five days each) and then my parents will be here for two weeks while we travel around China. (I’ve successfully convinced them that we need to go to Hong Kong Disney. YAS).
Anyway, without further ado, here’s what I’d like to accomplish this year!
My BFF got me a small moleskin notebook for my birthday, and I have been loving decorating it with washi tape and stickers for small notes. I know, I’m lame!
-Cultivate a heart of forgiveness.
Easier said than done, I know. There have been a lot of instances, especially in this semester, where I react with pure emotion and don’t accept people’s apologies. Well of course, I’ll say they’re forgiven, but in my heart? It’s a different story. This will be a daily, weekly, monthly thing where I need to check myself. Because you know what the beauty of forgiveness is? It unburdens you too!
Making the best food choices I can. Looking for a way to track/monitor this… any suggestions?
-Visit three new countries.
I have two already booked! Let’s see where the third one will end up being 🙂
-Spend time in the Word daily.
Even if it’s a devotional while I’m brushing my teeth, it’s better than nothing. 2015 was a year where my faith was very stagnant, and I want 2016 to be much more fulfilling spiritually.
Keeping it simple. Only two blog goals this year!
It’s embarrassing that I’ve been blogging for almost five years, I invest in my blog regularly, and I don’t track what I make/earn. EMBARRASSING, I tell you! I am going to track it with a simple table in my OneNote so I can see what I’m earning and spending in a more organized way.
-Start a newsletter.
In the past few months, I have gotten really into reading other bloggers newsletters (here’s three I really like!) This year I’d like to challenge myself to write my own. I know NOTHING about writing a newsletter, but I figured it might be fun to learn, right? (Any tips, suggestions, or posts to share, please leave them in the comments!)
-Be able to successfully do these yoga poses:
Wheel (this is supposed to be really good for your back, but I CANNOT DO IT. I get way too scared I’m going to hurt myself.
A headstand (I can do one against the wall, but I’d like to be able to do it without the assistance of the wall!)
-Start a meditation practice.
How nice would it be to meditate for ten minutes every Monday? WONDERFUL. Let’s see if I can get myself to do it!
Phew! That’s it. What goals do YOU have for the New Year?
