Um. I’m beyond excited to write this post.
If you’ve been reading my blog for even five minutes, you know my love of Disney runs deep. Shanghai Disneyland officially opened last week, but I was able to go on a sneak peek during a long weekend two weeks ago. (I shared on Instagram I was at Disney, and some people thought I was invited because of my blog to preview it… which was the nicest and most flattering thing ever, and totally not true ;)) It was amazing… my very high expectations were met! The worst part of the experience were the long lines; because it was the pre-opening, the lines were SO INCREDIBLY LONG. Like, I’m talking HOURS. However, I knew that going into it which helped, and I kept my expectations for how much I could get done in a day to a minimum. So let’s get to it!
Shanghai Disneyland is split up into 6 lands.
Camp Discovery: Children’s Play Area
Roaring Rapids: Water ride (was closed for the pre opening so I didn’t get to check it out!)
Soarin’: I really wanted to go to this, but the line was over 3 hours (!!) and fast passes were out within one hour of opening!
Alice in Wonderland Maze: This was really fun and cute! It’s modeled after the new Alice in Wonderland, and not the old cartoon, but I still really enjoyed it.

Honey Pot Spin: Yeah, these kinds of rides make me feel sick, so I skipped it. Think the teacups, but little honey pots.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: This is the same ride that’s at Disney World, so we skipped it due to the 1+ hour wait.
“Once Upon a Time” Adventure: This was seriously so cool. You actually got to go into the castle and relive the story of Snow White. The story was in Chinese, but it was still fun to actually be inside the castle!
Peter Pan’s Flight: This ride was the same as the one in Orlando, but was newer! We waited over two hours, but it was still cool.
Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train: Very fun roller coaster!
Voyage to the Crystal Grotto: This ended up being one of my favorite rides! It was a boat ride (think Jungle Cruise style) that had little montages from popular Disney movies and their songs playing.
I didn’t make it to any of these attractions.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Marvel Character Meet and Greet: Disney bought out Marvel, so now you can meet some of the characters!
Ah, my favorite place!
Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue: The same shooting game at WDW.
Jet Packs: I saw the name of this on the map and was so excited… I was envisioning something awesome! Instead it was simply a carnival-looking ride. Kinda #lame.
Stitch Encounter: Ugh, this attraction is so lame to me. I knew I wouldn’t like it and it would be in Chinese, so I skipped it.
Tron Rollercoaster: Although I waited two hours for this ride, it was well worth it! It is themed after the new Tron movie, and was amazing. If you only take one thing from this list, GO ON THIS RIDE!
This land was SO cool.. all the pirates! I really wanted to go on the Pirates Battle of Sunken Treasure, but again the line was too long. The other pirate areas included splash pads for the kids and a pirate meet and greet!
As per the Disney World’s in Asia, the food is just “meh” to me. Just trust me and don’t get the burger. There were no Mickey Bars (sad face!) but popcorn and other snacks. No alcohol, obvi. Also, prepare to drop some cash on food.
Look at this adorable cupcake! It was probably my favorite thing I ate the whole day.
If you enjoyed this post, I would be so flattered if you would pin it!
So, who’s going to plan a trip to Shanghai now?!
