Friends, please take our your bucket list. Then grab a pen. Then add “Harbin, China Ice Festival” to said list. I really just had one of the most amazing weekends of my life and really need to share with you. The truth is, I’ve been bitten. I’ve been bitten hard. By… the travel bug of course! But we’re not talking about that today. Today, we are talking about the ice and snow festival!
Friday after work, my friends Hallie, Rhea and I went to the airport to catch our flight to Harbin! The flight was about three hours long and the first time in my life that I ever had airport anxiety. I had a horrible feeling something was going to go badly and freaked the crap out of myself, my friends, and my mom (has that ever happened to you?!) I think it was just the fact that there have been so many news stories about planes lately that I got scared. Anywhoodle, everything was just fine. We checked into our hotel and went to bed.
The next morning, we woke up preparing to go to the SNOW FESTIVAL! For reference, it cost 240 kuai (about $40), and we were there for about 3ish hours. We also did some snow sports while we were there that cost a little bit extra– we went tubing down a slide, went on a banana boat on the snow, and then went on an ATV thingy. So much fun! I’ll let the pictures do the talking…
My favorite snack they had was frozen fruit on a stick that was covered in sugar… SO GOOD!
We then grabbed an early dinner to warm up before heading to the Snow and Ice festival. This cost 300 kuai ($50) but was absolutely worth it. If you’ve ever wondered where Anna and Elsa have lived, I FOUND IT! #frozeninreallife
