I wasn’t always a positive person. I used to let my diagnosis of clinical depression cloud how I reacted towards certain situations, and even viewed my own life. Not cool. Lately, though, I’ve been feeling very positive. Maybe it’s living in a healthy environment, surrounded by people who care about and uplift me. Other people must be noticing it too, because I was asked to give a presentation about staying positive in the classroom later today! (cue the flattery and nerves, wish me luck!)
When I saw Amanda’s positivity project, I knew it was totally my cup of tea. I highly encourage you to join in! All you need to do is answer the following four questions. Let’s get to it! (And how perfect for a Friday, right?)
Tell me something you love about yourself.
I love that I’m a hard worker. Sometimes I procrastinate, sometimes I’m lazy (who isn’t?), but I know if I put my mind to something, I can do it. Not everyone has this quality, and I’m proud of it.
Tell me what you want to work on.
I constantly feel like I need to be validated. Close friends tell me I will grow out of this, but I doubt myself in my work and personal life. For example, I often ask “here’s my idea, what do you think of it?” and “I feel this today, is that okay?” My personal goal for 2015 is acknowledge my need to be validated, but work on taming it.
Give someone a compliment and mean it.
I would like to compliment my real life friend Gina (who also has a blog!) We have become fast friends here, originally connecting over the summer before we moved to China, and there are really no words for how grateful I am to have a friend here like her. She always reminds me that whatever I’m feeling is okay, encourages me to do things that challenge me, and is just an awesome friend. G, I love you!
Tell me something you are proud of, succeeded in, or are just generally pumped about.
I have been trying to step outside my comfort zone here in China. This weekend, I’m taking it to the extreme level and I’m participating in the 48 hour International Film Festival! A team of 7 of us are going to put together a short film based on the prompt we find out tonight. I’ve never done anything like this before, and I’m super excited!!
Also, I have a favor. Would you mind filling out this quick 2-minute reader survey about The Rachael Way? It will provide valuable insight so I can measure how this baby is doing. I even have a little bribe– enter to win $20 PayPal cash.
Thank you so much! Have an amazing weekend!
