Remember when it was Wednesday (Tuesday in the states I guess) and I’m just now writing about my weekend? (hangs head in shame). That’s what happens when it’s testing time for teachers and you decide to actually grade all of your tests the day you get them back. Which means blasting Justin Bieber and interpretative dancing around the room with your coworkers.
Have I mentioned how much I love my job?
Anyway, it’s time to link up your weekend with Lisa and I! Why? Because having an online scrapbook of what you’ve been up to is actually pretty cool. My weekend wrap up will be short and simple because I worked literally the whole weekend (!)
Last year, when I was in Iceland, I shared with my coworker Nate that I was interested in starting a writing club with some students. Nate told me they were looking for a female coach to help with the World Scholars Cup. Basically, the WSC is an event where students do collaborative writing, team debates, a trivia competition and a written test. Every year, the WSC releases 6 topics and the students create study guides and study and prepare for the regional round (which was this weekend) and then the global round which is in Bangkok (!!!)
This is going to be a slightly lame blog post because I didn’t really take any pictures (except of the kids, which I feel a little weird sharing on the internet). I will say though, growing up I received a grand total of TWO medals in my life… one for being the scholar athlete (lol) on the swim team, and one for winning a writing competition in middle school. SO, I’m a big fan for awarding students for academic achievements as well as athletic achievements. So that was pretty cool.
After the competition, I headed over to Lisa’s birthday dinner! When I think about how blogging has changed me, one of the first things that pops to my mind is the close female friendships I’ve made with ladies I’ve first met on the internet, like Lisa! She is a wonderful person, and it was so much fun celebrating her for the day.
I love you, girl!
Not the most flattering picture of me, but I love these people!!!
What did you do this weekend? If you wrote a post about this weekend, be sure to link it up!
